My Favorite Things, That's So Seattle

the fields are alive with the sight of tulips

one of the cool things about living in the pacific northwest is the abundant beauty. you hear me talk about the mountains and the water but you probably never heard me mention the flowers and the rainforest and the waterfalls and the vineyards.

this past weekend i ventured north an hour to experience the beauty of the skagit valley tulip festival. my friend was celebrating her birthday this weekend and we did a number of things to truly make it magical. i hope that she enjoyed every bit of it. i know i did. and after being outside in the midst of such incredible beauty – fields and fields of it – i feel refreshed and renewed. i’m not sure we could have asked for a more perfect day!

as with all things i experience, i captured the moments with pictures. and of course i’ll be sharing them with you here! sadly, my experience yesterday made for a serious allergy attack today. i have the sore throat, swollen eyes, itchy nose and headache of a true allergy sufferer. i ask myself, was it worth it? when you see the pictures, you’ll understand my resounding YES!

there were flowers growing on the branches of this crooked tree!
i don't know what it is about me and a windmill but it looks picturesque
tulip fields don't just plant themselves
so many different colors ... i stayed out there for hours
i felt like alice in wonderland
i got lost in a sea of purple tulips and didn't want to leave
